International Walk to School Day

Since the year 2000, schools across the world have organized events to celebrate walking to school as part of International Walk to School Day. International Walk to School Day galvanizes visibility for walking and bicycling to school. Over time, this event has been part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation - each October. Today, thousands of schools across America and in more than 40 countries worldwide celebrate walking to school every October.

At the Georgia Resource Center we encourage all schools to participate as best they can! Even if it's not possible to organize a walk to school, there are other ways to participate.  Visit the Walk to School Day Website to learn about the ways your school and community can participate.
