The Georgia SRTS Resource Center encourages all schools to complete student travel tallies each fall.  Learning how students travel to and from school is an important way to establish a baseline for schools just starting a SRTS program and to measure the success of a program from year to year.

The Resource Center recommends capturing student travel information using the in-classroom show of hands method. This method takes just a few minutes at the start of the day for two successive days in one week.  More details on how to capture student travel information in the classroom is provided on the Way to: Student Travel Tallies.  The National Center for Safe Routes to School (National Center) provides a form to record student tally information.  Georgia school student travel tally information is included with the national database managed by the National Center. Click here for more information about student travel tallies from the National Center and to download the form.

Contact your School Outreach Coordinator (SOC) with any questions, or call the Resource Center hotline at 1.877.426.8927.

Remember: Schools interested in applying for technical assistance for developing either a Comprehensive School Travel Plan or a Safety-focused SRTS Report will need student travel mode information. Click here to learn more about how to apply for this technical assistance.  The application deadline is November 5.
