Timothy Road Elementary School kicked off their Safe Routes program on Wednesday October 7, 2009
Neither the rain nor the cold were enough to stop the students from Timothy Road Elementary School from walking and rolling their way to school this morning in celebration of Georgia Walk to School Day!
Further proving that there is no such thing as bad weather -- just bad clothing.  The over 100 enthusiastic walkers and rollers were greeted at the school this morning with breakfast, juice and Safe Routes to School bracelets for their arms and blinking reflective lights for their backpacks.  Some students even made signs showing their support for walking and biking to school. Timothy Rd Elementary School is a Gold level partner with the Ga SRTS Resource Center and hosts monthly walk to school days.  Their program includes a park and walk program where parents are able to park at a nearby location of school partner, Academy Sports, and walk with their children from there.  In the past, Timothy Rd has had celebrities like Uga, the University of Georgia's mascot, the Chick-fil-a cow and even the Mayor of Athens attend their walk to school day events.
